Study-in-Ireland: 2024 International Scholarship Programme for Students
Application is now open for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES) Programme, through which 60 scholarships will be made available to successful candidates offered admission into any eligible Irish institution for a one-year masters or PhD study.

SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTION
The International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES) scheme was created as part of the Irish government’s international education strategy from 2010 to 2015, and was later expanded under the Irish Educated, Globally Connected strategy from 2016 to 2020.
The aim of the 2024 GOI-IES scheme is to reflect Ireland’s engagement in target
partner countries. The 2024 GOI-IES scheme, managed by the Higher Education Authority of Ireland, is designed to showcase Ireland’s involvement with certain partner countries, specifically within the higher education sector. The scheme is funded by both the Irish government and higher education institutions, and is meant to be seen as a prestigious award that promotes Ireland as a hub for international education, research, and innovation. It is expected tat the scholarships granted under this scheme will increase awareness and interest in Ireland as a top destination for international education among potential students, and the Higher Education Authority is also responsible for selecting scholarship recipients through a competitive application process.

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the scholarship, interested candidates should note the following;
- Apply for admission to a relevant Master’s or PhD program at an eligible higher education institution (HEI).
- Follow the admission procedures of the chosen HEI.
- Have a conditional or final offer of admission to the HEI at the time of application.
- Submit a copy of the offer of admission.
If an applicant receives more than one offer for a course, they may submit separate applications for each offer. The final offers for admission to a higher education institution (HEI) will depend on the applicant being accepted by the relevant institution. It is recommended that applicants contact the relevant institution directly before submitting an application through the online system.
Here is the list of qualities that candidates are expected to have:
- A record of outstanding academic achievement
- Excellent communication skills
- Participation in extracurricular activities, such as humanitarian work, politics, arts, sports, etc.
- A strong rationale for pursuing their study in Ireland and how the GOI-IES program aligns with their long-term goals.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Applicants are expected to provide the following when filling the online application form;
- Academic qualifications, achievements, and/or work experience.
- Personal statement: In the personal statement, applicants will be required to demonstrate how becoming a GOI-IES Scholar will benefit them personally and professionally, as well as how it will benefit the institution, Ireland, and their country of origin. They will also need to show how they plan to become actively involved in Irish society and raise awareness of the GOI-IES scheme in Ireland and beyond. - Uploading of two reference letters uploaded directly through the online application portal (The HEA does not accept references submitted via email or other sources outside of the online application portal).

Benefits of the GOI-IES Programme
